Treatment Options
Asthma is treated differently based on the subtype. For E-asthma, corticosteroids, fast-acting inhalers, and leukotriene modifiers are the first line of defense. For allergic asthma, doctors will suggest nasal allergy medications such as steroids, antihistamines, and saline rinses. If allergies cannot be managed alone, your doctor may prescribe inhaled steroids and bronchodilators. If these medications do not work, your doctor may provide a biologic infusion to help tame your body’s allergic or immune response.

DISEASE OVERVIEW
At Pure Infusion, we provide infusions for eosinophilic and allergic asthma.
Eosinophilic asthma (E-asthma) is a rare and difficult-to-control sub-type of asthma that results when the body produces too many eosinophils, a type of white blood cell. When this overproduction occurs, it can trigger an autoimmune response that may cause inflammation and obstruction of the airway. E-asthma differs from allergic asthma, as it can occur in patients who do not have a tendency towards allergies.
Allergic asthma is the most common type of asthma and occurs only when a patient has allergies that trigger asthma. Asthma attacks triggered by allergic asthma will usually be accompanied by other allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose.
Both sub-types make it difficult to breathe, with 1 out of 13 people suffering from asthma as a chronic illness.
